Leather:
All leathers are not
the same, to make a great saddle
you need to first start with the
best hide, we only use Full
Grain hide, not inferior Top
grain, any weak underbelly or
Bonded leather made from leather
dust glued together. We don't
ever use cheap hide with spray
paint over it to save a few
bucks, instead we go out of our
way and wait a long time for
each of our hides to get
processed by custom tanneries.
Basically Full Grain is the best
hide that money can buy.
Tanning:
Drum dyed hide takes a month to
prepare Vs Chrome finished hide
which only takes a day, but drum
dyed hide ages richly, not
weakly, so it won't crack or
split in a few years. The hide
is carefully and patiently
tanned using High grade oils and
preservatives to keep it from
drying out early and being
destroyed. This is the real
stuff our grandfathers used,
remember the old leather bags,
etc you can't even tell how old
they are but despite being
weathered, they still look good
and are fully functional, we
strive to make saddles that last
at least 50-60 years with care.
Industrial Thread: We
use heavy duty UV resistant
thread used for making work
boots, parachutes and various
Marine applications.
Reinforced Stitching:
Look around the saddle and you
will notice lots of stitching,
usually double, especially at
pressure points, the more the
stitching the better, stronger
the saddle.
Hardware: Instead of
the usual Nickle Plated Hardware
used for Dog Collars and Tack,
we use actual Stainless Steel or
Brass for a longer lasting
finish and extra strength.
Thermal
Conductivity: Leather
is an excellent insulator, and
the thicker the hide the better
the insulation, this is why we
use thick 10-12 Oz weight hide
for the best results. It also
helps spread the weight of the
rider evenly and prevents it
from moving around.
Comfortable seating:
There is a layer of Special
memory type material between the
seat and the tree to give an
extra layer of cushion and shock
absorption, which allows comfort
to both equine and ride, as the
seat conforms to the riders tush
after regular use, this makes
the seat very comfortable.
Strength: The horn on
this saddle is capable of
holding a full grown adult Bull at the
horn for hours, in comfort. We
have ranchers all over the world
send us their comments that can
be viewed on our website as well
as pictures showing the brute
strength of our trees, we go
through some very unusual and
silly lengths to check our trees
including driving over them with
our cars to verify their
strength. Our trees are made of
two layers of cutting edge Dupont fiberglass which is
waterpoof, and extremely durable
yet lightweight and flexible.
The tree has a wooden core so
that screws remain firmly in
place, trees made of fiberglass
but without a wooden core are
dangerous as screws can fail.
The tree is then covered in a
layer of rawhide and hand
stitched when wet, then cured
and dried for a very tight and
lasting finish.
Warranty/Returns:
Sadly due to the litigious
nature of our society and the
inherent accidents faced by most
outdoor sports including
equestrian sports we can promise
nothing more than selling you a
good quality product in good
faith, however if you don't
agree with us, simply send it
back for a full refund. The
trees we do warranty to last
under normal riding conditions.
