General Care Guidelines
. If the saddle gets wet, clean all leather parts that have been exposed to moisture, let dry naturally, and oil with best application available. . Don't Leather which has been burned through this process should no longer be used. slowing drying time. turpentine, or mineral spirits. stitching and leather to rot. .DO . Keep the leather clean when not in use . Store in a cool dry place . Use Glycerin/leather soap to neutralize acids and salts in sweat (Do not use on suede's) deters mold and mildew, with its antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties . Oil regularly but avoid over oiling . Use Atlas pure neat's-foot oil, Lexol, Skidmore's cowboy edition leather cream, Obenaufs Leather protector . Use a saddle stand or if one is not available, park the saddle upright with horn and pommel on the ground, never leave the saddle flat on the ground. . take care of it for a very long healthy life. Rough out Leather . Occasionally you may need to brush the rough side hide with a stiff bristle brush or even sandpaper to bring the nap up, this should not be done too often. . Never oil the rough side, instead oil the grain side under and behind the rough side. . Don't over oil, it's just as bad as never oiling and never dip a cloth in oil and try to wipe it, it will leave a permanent oil mark, instead use a barely oiled rag, not a dripping one. . Don't use water and soap to
